05-10-08 :: Fire In North Providence Apartment Building ::

Shortly after 02:00PM North Providence Firefighters respornded to a reported fire at Princeton Place Apartments at 1370 Smith Street. First arriving companies reported fire showing from one apartment in the rear of the three story "L" Shaped brick apartment building and began stretching in. On arrival of the battalion chief an additional engine and truck was requested over the working fire companies which was engine 4 and rescue 2. Three handlines were dropped in and an aggressive interior attack kept the fire to the apartment of origin with minimal extension upwards, The fire was knocked down in about a half hour with no injuries reported. After crews cleared the fire scene, Engine 3 and Ladder 1 were dispatched as a fill in to a working fire in the neighboring town of Smithfield.



05-03-08 :: Providence Battles Heavy Fire In A 4 Story Vacant ::

Providence firefighters were dispatched to 1830 Westminister Street at the train tracks for a reported house fire. On arrival a second alarm was struck with heavy fire showing from a 4 story vacant residential over commercial. Lines were stretched in as crews initiated a aggressive interior attack, due due to rapid progression of fire to the upper floors crews were evacuated from the building and went into a defensive operation. Multiple deck guns and elevated master streams were used to stop the fire from spreading to a large vacant brick building in the rear. Heavy smoke was visible from a distance as companies tried to gain control, which they did about two hours after the initial alarm and transmission of a third alarm. No injuries were reported at this time, the building was heavily damaged. This fire is almost a year to the date of last years fire at the vacant colonial knife mill building, that lot is being used for a carnival at the time of this fire.



04-28-08 :: Providence Battles Heavy Fire In The South End ::

Providence firefighters were dispatched for numerous calls reporting a structure fire at 54 Reynolds Avenue. First due companies reported heavy overlapping fire venting from the second and third floors on side one and transmitted a Working Fire. Engine 10 initiated an aggressive interior attack, handlines were stretched in via the front stairwell and crews started the attack on a heavily involved second floor. Crews searched the building with unconfirmed reports of people trapped, Engine 8 stretched in via the rear stairs along with Engine 11 companies started the attack on floor three. A heavy fire extended into the loft and the Ladder 5 crew was evacuated from the roof, while members from tower 1 worked off the bucket. The heavy fire was knocked down in about twenty minutes, one firefighter was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries, the building is believed to have been vacant.



04-27-08 :: Pawtucket Structure Fire ::

Pawtucket Engines 3,6,4 Ladder 2 and Battalion Chief responded to responded to Brewster At Meadow Streets for multiple calls reporting a house fire around 06:30. Engine 3 first due reported a "Code Red" with fire showing from the exterior of a two story dwelling. Engine 2, Tower 1 and Rescue 2 were dispatched on a fill in, two handlines were stretched in. Engine 3 had the heavy fire knocked down within ten minutes as additional companies checked for extensions which turned up nothing, No injuries were reported.



04-10-08 :: Pawtucket Eastside Rollover ::

Pawtucket Engines 1,2 Tower 1 Rescue 1 and Battalion Chief responded to Williams Street At Pidge Avenue for a reported rollover with possible entrapment. Rescue 1 on arrival confirmed a single vehicle rollover with the operator still inside. Engine 2 which is equivalent to a squad company arrived and began the extrication, airbags and cribbing were utilized to extricate a male patient from the overturned vehicle within fifteen minutes of arrival. After being extricated members from rescue 1 evaluated the patient and transported to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence for futher evaluation and treatment.



04-03-08 :: Fall River 2 Alarm Structure Fire ::

In the Early morning hours of April third Fall River firefighters were dispatched to a Still Alarm at 56 Cherry Street. While companies were enroute fire alarm notified the responding chief of police units on scene confirming a fire. Car 2 arrived shortly after and issued a working fire on his arrival as heavy fire conditions on division 2 quickly extended upwards. A aggressive interior attack was engaged with reports of possible entrapment on floor 2, an additional engine and truck was requested. Heavy fire burned upwards from floor 2 into and thru the cockloft forcing interior companies to be withdrawn. Ladder 4 set up a large stream elevated master stream, as other crews utilized multiple handlines and a blitz gun the fire burned for nearly three hours running front to back in the cockloft and dropping down into unburned sections of floor 3 spreading the fire thru the building. The primary and secondary searches proved no entrapment, crews were on scene into the morning picking up and overhauling.



04-01-08 :: Milton 4 Alarm Fire ::

Early in the morning on April first Milton Firefighters were dispatched on Box 24 for 685 Brush Hill Road for a reported structure fire. On arrival a quick second alarm was struck for heavy fire in a large three story colonial followed by a third alarm. Heavy fire conditions on floor two extending vertically into the third floor and cockloft forcing the fireground operation to switch to defensive and large lines were stretched in, Deck guns and large stream appliances flowed water into the large three story building command struck a fourth alarm as heavy fire vented thru the roof. Multiple handlines and deckguns contained the fire to the main fire building without extension to out buildings in the rear, Mutual aid from Boston, Canton, and other surrounding departments assisted Milton Control the fire which was knocked down in about two hours of the initial dispatch, No injuries were reported the building was heavily damaged.



03-31-08 :: Providence Commercial Alarm ::

around 18:30 Monday evening Engine 13 was dispatched along with ladder company 5 to 145 Carolina Avenue for a Commercial alarm sounding. Shortly after arrival Engine 13 requested the balance of a working fire for a heavy smoke condition in the one story 75x100 masonary commercial Moldwork factory, and stretched in a handline. As fill in companies responded Engine 13 began fire supression efforts while the first arriving truck company Ladder 5,started to vent the structure. Interior companies were required to don full SCBA while operating inside the building due to hazardous materials and placards that read a radiation hazard inside the building. Companies had the heavy fire condition knocked down in about twenty five minutes, no injuries were reported.



03-30-08 :: Providence House Fire ::

At 23:10 hrs Sunday Night Providence firefighters were dispatched to 9 Myrtle Street off Broad for a report from the second floor occupant of a crackling sound coming from the wall and a odor of smoke on the third floor. Headquarters apparatus Engine 3, Tower 1 and Hazards arrived with smoke showing from the top floor at 23:17 command ordered a working fire for fire in the large 3 story occupied dwelling. companies stretched in a line, as Heavy fire burned between floors 2 and 3. 4 handlines and a interior attack knocked down and contain the fire in about thirty minutes The cause is still under investigation.



03-28-08 :: West End Garage Destroyed and Small Fire At Marvin Gardens ::

Friday evening Providence firefighters were dispatched to 154 Waldo Street off Cranston Street in the west end for a reported garage fire. Engine 8, Tower 2 on arrival had heavy fire conditions from a brick and wood garage with trailors on side 1 also involved and a exposure problem in the rear or Linwood Street side. Crews utilized 3 handlines and a interior operation to knock down the heavy overlapping fire which extended to the loft of the garage and thru the roof. Command requested an additional 2&1 to the scene crews had the fire in check in about a half hour the garage was heavily damaged and in danger of collapse. Shortly after the Waldo Street job firefighters were dispatched to Marvin Gardens on Oak Street for a reported fire in a occupied apartment,The chief arrived first due and reported a smoke condition on floor 2 as Engine 15 arrived a Code Red was issued for a small fire in the kitchen.Engine 15 stretched in a dry line while Engine 2 layed feeders into the fifteens. No lines were charged and the fire was under control in ten minutes,firefighters removed a cat from the fire apartment No injuries were reported.



03-26-08 :: 2nd Alarm Destroys A Providence Vacant Dwelling ::

Wednesday morning around 08:00 Providence firefighters were dispatched to 9 Longmont Street off Admiral Street for a house fire. First arriving companies had heavy smoke showing from a vacant 2.5 story dwelling with heavy fire on floor one rapidly extending upwards. Heavy fire conditions fanned by strong winds blew fire from side two threatning a exposure building which was a occupied 3 story woodframe, Ladder 7 set up a ladder pipe while command ordered the evacuation of the fire building to put large lines to use. One Ladder pipe and a deck gun knocked the fire down from the exterior in about twenty five minutes of the dispatch, crews went back into a limited interior attack on floor one and companies entered a heavily damaged and hole ridden second floor via a ground ladder. The fire was placed under control shortly thereafter one firefighter was treated for a back injury.



03-26-08 :: 3rd Alarm Damages Milford Commercial Building ::

Wednesday morning around 12:30 Milford firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire at Main and Spring Streets called in by police. Engine 3 arrived first due and reported heavy fire from the rear of the three story brick commercial building located at 114 Main Street which is Route 16. Companies quickly advanced A line into side one and began fire supression efforts from the interior while engine 2 stretched in a backup line, On arrival of the chief a second alarm was transmitted bringing mutual aid in to the fire and for covers at the station. A heavy fire load in the rear extended into all floors and collasped the rear porches and a third alarm was sounded bringing in more assistance from Hopedale, Ashland, Franklin and Hopkington to the fire while a franklin engine covered, Mutiple handlines were stretched in and knocked down the in about two hours while crews remained on scene into the morning overhauling.



03-25-08 :: 5 Alarms For Train Crash In Canton ::

On Tuesday Canton firefighters were dispatched to the end of Culloden Drive for a train crash. On arrival command requested 8 additional medical rescues into the scene from surrounding Norfolk county for a MBTA commuter train that struck a boxcar. Shortly thereafter a working fire assignment and 2 ambulance strike teams were transmitted bringing multiple mutual aid to the scene fallon ambulance also was dispatched with multiple units. Multiple commuters upwards of 100 who on the train were slightly injured and triaged in a large field behind the residences on Culloden Drive, 2 people were transported with serious injuries. Eventually a 4th alarm was transmitted along with 4 medical strike teams to bring in more assistance to the location. Command set up a staging area at the Canton Junction Commuter Rail Station at 490 Chapman Street. A 5th alarm was sounded to bring in apparatus for cover assignments while multiple people were bused out of the scene, multiple agencies were involved including Amtrak Police, Transit Police, Canton Police,Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts State Fire Rehab and Incident Support, Boston EMS, And fire departments from as far away as Millis were all on scene assisting.



03-24-08 :: 4 Alarms For Commercial Building In Taunton ::

Taunton firefighters responded to on William Hooke Lane ajacent to the site of a previous general alarm fire for reports of fire. On arrival heavy smoke and fire vented from a one and two story large commercial building housing Granite and a second alarm was transmitted. Crews had access issues due to a fence and chains across the roadway, crews gained access to the property and started supression efforts. Eventually all taunton fire apparatus responded, Bristol County control transmitted a fourth alarm to backfill empty city stations and stage mutual aid at the scene. command requested 2 additional engines to the fire Dighton and Raynham were dispatched. Heavy fire took hold of the building as crews attempted to contain it with two ariel devices and multiple large handlines on three sides of the building. what was left of the two story section collapsed as fire continued to burn in the single story section of the structure. Crews remained on scene into Tuesday chasing pockets of fire and overhauling. Smoke from the fire was visible for miles and covered Route 44 in Taunton Square, No injuries were reported and the cause is still under investigation, five people were arrested on the scene.



03-24-08 :: Pawtucket Occupied House Fire ::

At 06:06AM Pawtucket Engines 4,3,6 Ladder 2 and The Battalion Chief were stilled to 56 Hunts Street. Engine 4 on arrival reported a heavy smoke condition on floor one of a occupied three story dwelling and issued a code red, Engine 2 Tower 1 and Rescue 2 filled in on the working fire assignment. Two handlines were stretched in with one in operation kept the fire in check on floor one while the ladder crew evacuated occupants from the third floor. The Heavy fire was knocked down and contained to the area of origin with minimal extension. Engine 1 was dispatched to Headquarters to fill in while East Providence Engine covered Station 6, No injuries were reported cause of the fire is under investigation, Recalled at 08:06



03-19-08 :: Pawtucket Vacant House Fire ::

At 02:54AM Pawtucket Engines one, two and five Tower Ladder one and the chief responded to 50 Jefferson street for a structure fire called in by police. Engine one on arrival reported heavy smoke from the building and issued a Working fire, Engine three, Ladder two and rescue one filled in on the assignment. two lines were stretched into the basement and quickly extinguished a small body of fire that was extending into the ceiling of The large three story vacant dwelling across from payne park. Interior companies checked for extension to division one and the upper floors which turned up nothing. Ladder two was sent from the scene to cover at headquarters for the duration of the incident. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation Engine one first due cleared the scene at 04:07 and the fire was recalled at 04:08.



03-16-08 :: Providence Garage Fire ::

Around 01:45AM On March 16th Providence firefighters were dispatched to 623 Douglas Avenue for a reported garage fire. Engine 12 reported a smoke condition from the station a block away, on arrival heavy fire was showing from a two car garage with an exposure problem and a "Code Red" was transmitted. Engine 12 stretched in two lines and knocked the fire down quickly with no extension to either three story dwelling. Command held three engines and two ladders and returned the fill in companies along with the hazards. one occupant was transmitted for further evaluation.



03-15-08 :: Cranston House Fire ::

Just Before 01:00AM Cranston firefighters were dispatched to 188 Curtis Street for reports of a fire. On arrival Engine 3 reported smoke showing from a 1.5 story private dwelling and began fire supression efforts. Heavy fire in the half story quickly extended into the attic space, Firefighters used two lines to knock down and contain the in about fifteen minutes. No injuries were reported, crews remained on scene for about an hour overhauling and picking up.



03-11-08 :: Another Vacant Dwelling Burns In Providence ::

During rush hour Providence firefighters were stilled out to Potters At Melrose streets for reports from the police of a occupied dwelling fire. Engine ten on arrival transmitted a working fire for fire in division one quickly extending upwards in a three story vacant dwelling and began to stretch lines in. Command requested an additional engine and truck to the scene as fire burned into the second and third floors. Fire alarm also dispatched Engine nine and Ladder eight to Laura street which is the next block up to check out a possible occupied dwelling fire that call turned out to be the fire on melrose avenue. Heavy fire burned up side one into the attic as Engine's eight,ten and eleven utilized four lines and worked on all levels to extinguish it. The fire was contained in a half hour with crews tied up into the evening, One firefighter from ladder five was transported for minor injuries.



03-08-08 :: Another West End Fire In Providence ::

Early in the morning of March 8th during a heavy rain storm Providence firefighters were dispatched to a possible structure fire at 700 Cranston Street at Benedict Street. Engine 8 arrived and transmitted a working fire with smoke showing from a 3.5 story commercial and residential structure and requested special hazards to assist with gaining entry due to roll down metal doors also Companies made several rescues via ground ladders. Engine 8 found heavy fire conditions in the basement extending into floor 1, while advancing lines into the basement a flashover occurred forcing the fireground operations to switch to defensive. Heavy fire in the basement extended to all floors and into the cockloft requiring a full third alarm assignment with special calls. Multiple handlines and 4 ladder pipes contained the fire to the building of origin with minimal extension to the side 2 exposure a 1 story commercial building in about 2 1/2 hours. 1 Occupant and 6 firefighters were transported for various injuries none reported to be serious.



03-02-08 :: Providence Ladder 7 Involved In A MVA ::

Around 18:30 Ladder 7 was dispatched to Charlesgate Apartments along with the rest of a still box response for smoke on floor five. While enroute they were involved in a crash with 3 other vehicles, at the corner of Orms and Charles Streets about a block from the reported fire location. Rescue 5 was dispatched to the scene to evaluate minor injuries to a civilian in one of the other vehicles, Battalion 3 also responded. Tower Ladder 1 was sent to fill in on the assignment for ladder 7 but were delayed due to a heavy traffic condition in the area. Rescue 5 transported the driver to a local hospital for further evaluation and the still box turned out to be a good intent call.



03-02-08 :: Providence Firefighters Rescue Occupant From Burning Home ::

Providence fire crews were dispatched to 132 Ruggles Street for a reported building fire late in the afternoon of March second. Engine 12 on arrival reported a "Code red" for smoke showing from floor 2 of a 2 story woodframe occupied dwelling and began the inital attack. While knocking down fire and conducting a primary search of the building a resident was found on floor 2 and removed from the building via the rear stairs to awaiting EMS units. Command requested a additional rescue and ladder company at that time. Heavy fire conditions on floor 2 extended into the walls, due to a aggressive interior attack fire was contained to that floor with minimal extension above in about 25 minutes of the dispatch. At this time the fire is being investigated, unknown condition of the occupant transported.



02-29-08 :: Morning Rollover In Attleboro ::

Around 01:20 AM on Friday Attleboro firefighters were dispatched to the area of 496 Oak Hill Avenue for a reported rollover. Engine 5 on arrival reported a single car rollover into a tree with heavy entrapment, and a second set of jaws and cribbing was requested. Crews set up for a prolonged extrication and put 3 Sets of jaws and a wrecker to work to remove one occupant from the wreck. 3 Engines, and a Ladder company worked for about an hour to remove the victim who was later transported by ground to RI Trauma Center in Providence for further treatment.



02-29-08 :: Morning Fire In Johnston Basement ::

Around 01:00AM while Johnston firefighters picked up from a chimney fire that extended to the dwelling on Atwood Avenue, Fire alarm dispatched Engine 2, Rescue 2 for a possible House fire at 486 Greenville Avenue. While other companies cleared the previous fire scene, command was advised of multiple calls being recieved for the second reported fire. Engine 2 on arrival had smoke showing from a 1.5 story occupied dwelling and a "Code Red" was issued. 2 Lines were stretched into the basement via the front door and a third handline was stretched in through the bulkhead, Command requested a mutual aid engine from North Providence to the scene to stand by, while other mutual aid crews from Providence and Cranston covered. Heavy fire was knocked down in about twenty minutes of arrival, 1 occupant was evaluated by rescue for smoke inhalation. The state fire marshall was called in to investigate both fires.



02-25-08 :: Morning Fire In Providence Commercial Building ::

Around 08:15 Providence Firefighters were dispatched to 221 Admiral Street for a report of smoke on floor 1. Engine's 12,2,7 Ladders 3,7 Special Hazards and Battalion 3 responded. Engine 12 on arrival reported a definite smoke condition in the large 2 story commercial building and transmitted a precautionary "code red" until they found the source of the smoke. Ladder 3 reported to command that they had a small body of fire on floor 2 and requested a pike pole and a line. Ladder 7 reported fire on floor 1 and requested an additional line be stretched into that floor, 3 handlines were stretched in and contained the fire to between the first and second floors within 15 minutes of the dispatch.



02-23-08 :: Early Morning Fire In Providence's West End ::

Around 4:30 AM Saturday morning fire alarm dispatched companies to 113 Benedict Street in the cities "West End" for a reported building fire, Engine 8 responding from quarters reported a heavy smoke condition while enroute and on arrival reported a vacant 2 story woodframe with heavy structural involvement and a second alarm was transmitted. Battalion 2 arrived and reported a severe exposure issue on side 4 to a occupied structure of similar size, and also that companies would be switching to a defensive operation. Engine 13 was special called to drop lines to Tower 1 from Cranston Street, 6 Handlines were stretched to contain the fire to the original building about 25 minutes after the initial dispatch with no injuries reported .



02-19-08 :: Providence Late Evening House Fire ::

Around 9PM Tuesday night Providence fire alarm recieved numerous calls for a structure fire at 23 Bergen Street. Engine 15 on arrival reported heavy smoke showing from the rear of the reported location, with indications of a working fire, fire alarm dispatched the fill in companies. Engine 15 reported a 2 story woodframe with heavy fire conditions on floor 1 rapidly extending to floor 2 and a second alarm was transmitted. Heavy fire vented from 3 sides of the building severely threatening 2 exposures of similar size. Shortly after arrival of Battalion 2 interior companies were evacuated and crews set up for a defensive operation. Due to limited access Tower 1 relocated to a rear yard and Engine 2 was Special Called to setup a water supply to the Ladder pipe. 5 Handlines and 1 ladder pipe were utilized to contain the fire to the original fire building. Crews remained defensive due to holes in the floor at the time of evacuation, companies remained on scene into Wednesday overhauling and picking up.



02-18-08 :: Providence Early Morning House Fire ::

On Monday morning at 04:30 Providence firefighters were dispatched to Waverly at Dexter Streets for a reported house fire. Engine 8 on arrival reported a working fire for fire side 2 of a 2.5 story occupied woodframed dwelling. On arrival of Battalion 2 an additional engine and truck were requested. 4 Lines were stretched in and had the fire knocked down within a half hour. Companies checked for extensions on floors two, three and the cockloft for futher fire extensions one occupant was injured unknown extent. This was the sixth fire in Providence in the last four days.



02-18-08 :: Attleboro Early Morning Basement Fire ::

On Monday morning Attleboro firefighters were dispatched to the house across from 24 Deerfield Road in the South Attleboro district of the city for a reported House fire. Police units arrived and advised fire alarm that occupants were still inside removing animals from the dwelling. On arrival of Engine 2 reported Smoke showing from a 1 story occupied woodframe structure and began an interior operation with an attack line, while second due Engine 5 dropped feeders to the hydrant at the corner of Holly Street. Fire in the basement extended upwards, command requested a second attack line to be stretched into floor 1 while Ladder 2 opened up the walls to expose any fire extensions to that floor. The heavy fire was knocked down in about 30 minutes utilizing 2 Lines. Fire fighters made great work operating with Engines 2,5 Ladder 2 and a rescue company. Occupants of the home were evaluated for smoke inhalation on scene, Comapnies cleared the scene around 05:00 hours.



02-10-08 :: Pawtucket Rowland Street Fire ::

On Sunday shortly after noon two calls were recieved at Pawtucket fire alarm for the address of 26 Rowland Street for reports of a fire in the building, Engine's 5,1,2 Tower 1 and Battalion 1 responded. Engine 5 On arrival reported a two story occupied multiple dwelling with a kitchen fire floor 2 and stretched in a handline, A Code Red was issued and Engine 3, Ladder 2 and Rescue 1 was dispatched on the fill in. Engine 5 quickly extinguished the fire and checked for extension into the walls and cabinets with the thermal imaging camera. Crews cut off the power to the fire apartment and apartment below due to water dropping down into fixtures, The Fire was under control quickly the recall sounded at 13:06.



02-08-08 :: Pawtucket Kitchen Fire On Second Street ::

On Friday evening at 18:21 Hours Pawtucket fire alarm recieved calls from a neighbor reporting a fire at 151 Second Street. Engine's 6,3,4 Ladder 2 and the Battalion chief responded. Due to additional calls the fill in companies were dispatched, Engine 2 cleared a run and responded along with Tower Ladder 1 and Rescue 2. Engine 6 on arrival had fire in the kitchen of the 2 story woodframe occupied dwelling and stretched lines in, Second due engine 3 arrived and layed feeders to Engine 6 while a aggressive interior attack began. Companies had the heavy fire knocked down and contained to floor 1 within twenty five minutes of arrival utlizing 3 lines,The Recall sounded at 20:00 Hours



01-31-08 :: Warren House Fire ::

On Thursday Around 22:30 hours Warren 890 dispatched apparatus to on Croade Street for a structure fire called in by police. the chief on arrival with heavy smoke showing ordered a working fire for fire floor 2 of the 2 story occupied building, 2 Lines were stretched in and knocked the fire down rather quickly. Firefighters also removed a cat from the building and returned it to the occupants of the second floor. The fire was contained to a second floor bedroom with minor extension, No Injuries were reported.



01-24-08 :: Providence Transmits 2nd Alarm On Arrival ::

On Thursday just before noon Providence firefighters were dispatched to 15 Joslin Street for a reported occupied house fire. Arriving companies reported heavy smoke from floors 1,2 and 3 of a 3 story woodframe residential and ordered a working fire. Engine's 15,14 and Ladder 6 made a aggressive interior advancing 2 lines into the burning building. Command still enroute requested an additional 1&1 due to the header visible in the distance, on arrival he transmitted a second alarm for heavy fire on floor 1 with exposure problems on 2 sides.heavy fire was stopped on floor 1 with 5 handlines in about 20 minutes. 5 rescues were special called for occupants with smoke inhalation, Multiple people were transported to Rhode Island hospital for futher treatment and evaluation. 01-23-08 :: Newport Strikes 4th Alarm For A Large Dwelling ::

Shortly after 18:00 Newport firefighters responded to A reported fire in the attic at Bellevue Avenue At East Bowery Street. On Arrival heavy smoke pushed from the roof and eves of the large 2.5 story building, A Second alarm shortly followed. Crews Began A aggressive interior attack only to be withdrawn due to heavy fire conditions that dropped down from the attic. Heavy fire vented thru the roof as crews set up a defensive attack and evacuated the building. Multiple handlines were dropped in and put to work along with additional large stream appliances. Command requested a Third and Fourth Alarms to be sounded as companies battled the heavy fire conditions from a safe position. Multiple mutual aid from Middletown, Portsmouth and The Navy, responded to the scene,a staging area on King Street or for Station coverage. Companies had the fire knocked down in about 2 hours, Extensive overhaul and investigation followed into the night. No Injuries were reported, The building was heavily damaged.



01-23-08 :: 2 Buildings Burn In 3 Alarm Fire In Worcester ::

Worcester firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Box 16-13 For 76 Lancaster Street at 02:42. First arriving companies reported a well involved 2 story woodframe Vacant dwelling that was extending into an exposure a 3 story woodrame. A second and third alarms quickly followed as Crews setup a defensive operation using deck guns and ladder pipes to try to contain the fire to the two buildings without any futher extension to neighboring buildings, Companies also dragged lines into another exposure building at the corner to try to stop the progressing fire conditions from that structure which they did. Multiple handlines were charged as the water hit the street it froze making fireground operations very dangerous. Crews made a great stop knocking down the heavy fire in around an hour and a half of the initial alarm. The Oxford Air/Light Unit was special called to the fire. No Injuries were reported at the time of this article.



01-22-08 :: Small Fire In Newport Avenue Attic ::

Pawtucket Fire alarm dispatched companies to a reported structure fire at 1470 Newport Ave At Cushman Street. Engine 6 usually 2nd Due was relocated to East Providence about 10 minutes Prior. Engine 4 arrived with smoke showing and order a code red, Tower Ladder 1, Engine 1 and Rescue 2 were sent on the fill in. Engine 4 stretched a line into the building to extinguish A electrical fire in A ceiling fan with minor extension into the attic. Companies Held the roof and feeders and command released the fill in companies while they were enroute. Fire was Under control in around ten minutes.



01-22-08 :: East Providence Basement Fire ::

East Providence fire alarm recieved word from police of a possibe structure fire at 18 Dewey Avenue. First arriving companies reported smoke showing, the working fire quickly followed. Engine 5 searched for the seat of the fire on floor 1 While Engine's 1 and 4 dragged handlines into the basement. Heavy fire in the basement extended into floor 1 of the 1.5 story private dwelling. Command Special called an additional 1&1 to the scene and Barrington Engine 1 responded mutual aid to the riverside station. Companies had the heavy fire knocked down in about 30 minutes and remained on scene into Wednesday overhauling and investigating. 1 occupant was transported with smoke inhalation to an area hospital.



01-22-08 :: Small Fire On Providence's East Side ::

Providence firefighters responded to 290 Governor Street for a reported fire. Shortly after arrival engine 9 reported a code red for a small fire in a rear wall of a 1.5 story addition off a 3.5 story woodframe. 2 Lines were stretched and truck companies opened up the wall and floor in the affected area to search for extension which was negative. Companies put the fire under control quickly with no injuries reported.



01-21-08 :: 16 Buildings Burn In Lawrence ::

Around 02:00am Monday morning, a passing Patriot ambulance in the City Of Lawrence passed by the vacant Millennium Nightclub located at 44 Parker Street and reported a active fire on floors 2 and 3. On arrival of the fire department 5 Buildings all in close proximity to each other were involved in a heavy fire condition that took hold of the large 3 story building at the corner of Parker and Market Streets and quickly extended to exposures to the rear. A 3rd alarm was transmitted as the original building collasped, fire alarm also advised command they were were receiving multiple calls for structure fires in that vicinity, with temperatures around 20 and gusting winds, attention quickly switched to saving the neighborhood. Eventually a 5th Alarm was sounded with multiple special calls equivalent to a 8th alarm, Telephone poles,electrical wires, street lights, vehicles, and multiple buildings burned while the large firestorm covered the neighborhood in brands which set off multiple other vehicle fires. As the large commercial/residential building at the corner of Parker and Springfield Streets started to collapse, radiant heat melted street lights and signs across the street also scorching the side of engine 9 forcing the relocation of the snorkel to side 4 to try to save the 5 other buildings in the block on Springfield street. Multiple residents an estimated 200 were woken up by police and firefighters and evacuated to a shelter at a nearby location in town until a permanent shelter could be established earlier in the morning. Multiple mutual aid companies from Massachusetts and New Hampshire responded as fire raced through the 16 buildings which consisted of 26 occupied apartments, 2 vacant dwellings, Garages, and 2 large commercial buildings. This was the second multiple alarm fire in about a week on January 13th A Large vacant church building on Park Street burned in a 5 alarm fire that extended to one occupied dwelling, Also on September 2nd 2007 Box 6111 was transmitted for 4 buildings well involved on Andover Street between Blanchard and Parker Street fire originated at 328 Andover Street on arrival of the police fire had extended to all 3 exposure buildings which were under renovation, a 3rd alarm was transmitted enroute due to a large header and the fourth alarm shorty followed after arrival that location is about five blocks from Mondays fire which is being called the worst in Lawrence since the Malden Mills Fire in 1995 which seriously injured 27 workers after a boiler explosion and resulting fire leveled the mill complex and extended to multiple residential and commercial structures one a quarter of a mile away, it was one of the worst in massachusetts history.

Early on Monday morning, Cranston fire alarm recieved multiple calls for a structure fire on Hillcrest Drive North. Engine 6 on arrival had heavy smoke and fire from a 2 story woodframe detatched garage. companies streched lines in and knocked the heavy fire down rather quickly. 1 Vehicle was also involved and destroyed, companies checked the 1.5 story private dwelling that was unoccupied at the time of the fire for extension, none was found. companies cleared the scene in about 2 hours.



01-18-08 :: Fall River Vacant Building Fire ::

On Friday January 18th Fall River Fire was dispatched to 1031 Stafford Road For A reported Still Alarm Called In By Police. Companies Arrived quickly from the Globe Station and reported smoke showing from floor 2 of the vacant 3 story woodframe. Heavy fire conditions vented out side 1 and extended into the third floor and attic area. 3 lines were streched as heavy fire vented thru the roof, Command special called an addition Engine and Ladder to the scene. Eventually the balance of a second alarm would be dispatched,and crews were evacuated from the building to put deck guns and a Ladder pipe in operation. Companies had the heavy volume of fire knocked down in around an hour. The building was heavily damaged and No Injuries were reported at this time.



01-17-08 :: North Providence Dwelling Fire ::

On Thursday January 17th North Providence Fire Alarm dispatched Companies To 6 Damian Court for a possible house fire. Engine 2 reported a smoke condition on arrival with heavy smoke from the second floor of the 2 story woodframe structure. On arrival of the chief a Working Fire was transmitted with heavy fire venting out windows in the rear, an additional 1&1 was requested Providence Engine 7 and Ladder 4 was dispatched. 4 handlines were streched in to knock down the fire which originated on floor 1 and extended vertically into the second floor. The fire was contained quickly, Companies remained on scene into Friday Morning. Pawtucket, Johnston, Providence, and Smithfield provided station coverage and responded to a reported house fire on Dorman Ave, Pawtucket Engine 5 and Tower 1 Held At That scene.



01-13-08 :: Trooper Gets More Than The Truck ::

On Sunday January 13th Pawtucket Engine's 2,5 Rescue 2 Were dispatched to Route 95 Northbound in the vicinity of Exit 30, For a State Trooper involved in a motor vehicle accident. According to witnesses the officer was in the progress of citing a truck driver for driving over the Pawtucket River Bridge when he was struck from behind by another vehicle. The Trooper was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Rescue 2 for futher treatment unknown extent of the officers injuries at this time, The Other operator was not injured.



01-13-08 :: Providence Scrap Pile Fire ::

On Sunday Around 05:00am Engine 13 Was Dispatched To Fields Point Drive In The Port of Providence On An Investigation Of Smoke In The Area. Engine 13 Notified Fire Alarm They Were On Scene At Metals Recycling With A Deep Seated Fire In A large Pile Of Scrapped Car Parts Or Fluff. Engine 13 Requested An Additional Engine For A water Supply Fire Alarm Dispatched Engine 10, Ladder 5 And Battalion 2. On Arrival Of Chief O'Reilly Tower 1 Was Special Called, As Engine 13 Continued With A Foam Operation. Tower 1 Arrived And Began To Flow Water Onto The Pile. Eventually Engine 9 Was Special Called To Pump The Hydrant Lines. 1 Ladder Pipe And The Deck Gun Off Engine 10 Was Put To Work To Extinguish The Fire. Crews Used A Large Front End Loader To Move Train Cars From The front Of The Pile To Gain Access. Companies Remained On scene Into The Day Flowing Water Onto The Pile Of Debris. This Was Also Chief O'Reilly's Jeff Rayner Last Fire As Battalion Chief As He Is Retiring, Good Luck Chief!



01-12-08 :: Rehobeth Dwelling Fire ::

On Saturday Evening January 12, 2007 As The Rest Of New England Watched The Patriots Game Rehobeth Fire Alarm recieved calls for a house fire at 114 School Street. Arriving companies reported smoke showing from the 1.5 story cape style dwelling and began to stretch lines in. Heavy Fire conditions on Floor 2 extended into the cockloft. Command requested a Second alarm to be transmitted for station coverage Mutual aid from Norton and Swansea Filled in Command also requested the 2 Tankers on the Second Alarm run card to the scene to establish and maintain a water supply, Tanker shuttles were set up with a draft site set up at a nearby fire station, Warren Engine 6 and Swansea tanker responded. Companies remained on scene into Sunday chasing small pockets of fire and searching for its cause. Rescue Did treat 1 patient for smoke inhalation unknown if they were transported.



01-06-08 :: Woonsocket Structure Fire ::

On Sunday January 6th around 22:00 Hours The Chief Of Woonsocket fire Requested to fill in the assignment of a working fire for heavy fire on floor one of a three story woodframe flattop at 65 Aylsworth Avenue At Richelieu Street. Heavy fire extended up the side 2 wall into the second and third floors and a second alarm was transmitted then a third alarm was transmitted to back fill empty city stations. Multiple lines were streched in as interior companies knocked down heavy fire, pulled ceilings and opened walls to check for hidden fire extension, Woonsocket Firefighters made quick work knocking down the heavy fire withen the hour. Companies remained on scene overhauling and salvaging no injuries were reported.



01-06-08 :: North Attleborough Vehicle Fire ::

On Sunday January 6th North Attleborough Firefighters were dispatched out to Keven Drive for multiple calls reporting a structure fire. Uptown companies reported heavy smoke showing as they responded, Smmoke was visible for miles. On arrival companies reported a commercial box truck well involved in the driveway of a 1.5 story residential. The Chief on arrival struck a working fire bringing Cumberland to the scene and Attleboro to cover. Crews also had propane tanks and gasoline burning in the rear of the vehicle 2 big lines were streched with a feeder and contained the fire to the truck with no extension to the dwelling.

On Friday, January 4th Providence Fire Alarm dispatched a Full response to a possible House Fire at 102 Laura Street. On Arrival heavy fire vented from floor 2 and quickly extended into the 3rd floor. A Very aggressive interior attack began, Members were notified of possible occupant trapped on floor 3 and a second alarm was struck. Heavy Fire extended into the cockloft and thru the roof, Lines were streched off Tower 1 and knocked down exterior fire on side 1. multiple handlines were streched to contain the fire, and an additional 1 engine and 1 truck was special called over the second alarm. The fire was contained to the building of origin withen the hour. Unknown If Any Injuries were sustained to any occupants or members.



01-04-08 :: Providence Residential Building Fire ::

On Friday, January 4th Providence Firefighters were dispatched to a possible House Fire Called In By Police at 829 Charles Street In the Area Of Nahant Street. Engine 12 Reported Smoke In The Distance as they responded, and on arrival had a 3 story woodframe flattop with heavy fire venting out side 2. Engine 12 Made a quick interior attack as heavy fire from the basement extended upwards into the 3rd floor and roofline threatning the exposure 2 building a 3 story residential. Multiple handlines were pulled and companies had the heavy fire knocked down on all floors in about 25 minutes. A Second alarm was transmitted for manpower and to rotate crews. 1 Occupant was transported with burns to his hands. The Red Cross Responded to provide shelter, No Other Injuries were reported.





12-30-07 :: Providence Vacant Dwelling Fire ::

On Sunday, December 30th Providence Fire Alarm dispatched a possible house fire at 827 Potters Avenue At Puritan Street. Engine 8 on arrival reported a "Code Red" For fire showing from a vacant 1.5 story dwelling. Heavy fire conditions On floor 1 burned away the stairwell, Crews gained access to the second floor via a ground ladder in the rear. Fire extended into floor 2 and the attic area but due to a aggressive interior attack firefighters had the heavy fire knocked down and contained in about a half hour, With No Injuries reported.



12-20-07 :: Providence Garage Fire ::

Early On Thursday December 20th Providence fire Alarm dispatched companies to the rear of 80 lexington Ave For A reported garage fire, Fire alarm also advised responding companies that they recieved calls for Onterio Street. Engine 10 arrived and reported a 1 story 50x50 garage fully involved with multiple exposures, and a Code red was transmitted. Lines were streched and 2nd due engine 11 had a dead hydrant in front of the building. The heavy fire was contained to the garage crews checked for extension in the exposures none was found.



12-19-07 :: Attleboro House Fire ::

On Wednesday december 19th Attleboro firefighters were dispatched to 119 West Street For a reported basement fire. The First due companies on arrival had a heavy smoke condition and requested a line to be streched. On arrival of the chief a working fire was transmitted, Fire in the basement extended into the walls, Firefighters dropped two lines in and knocked down the fire. Fire was contained to the basement of the 1 story woodframe residential structure with minor extension above, 1 occupant was evaluated on scene and 1 firefighter was injured and transported from the scene to a area hospital.



12-16-07 :: Warwick Dwelling Fire ::

On Sunday december 16th As heavy snow fell Warwick fire alarm dispatched companies to 9 Dayton Street for a reported dwelling fire. Engine 6 on arrival reported heavy fire showing from the B-C Corner of a 2.5 story woodframe residential structure. Heavy fire conditions burned thru the floor forcing a short evacuation of the building. Multiple lines were streched in and firefighters had the heavy fire knocked down in around thirty minutes, No injuries were reported.



12-14-07 :: Pawtucket Stubborn Building Fire ::

On Thursday the seasons first good accumulating snowfall caused major issues around the area. Earlier in the evening multiple car fires had firefighters scrambling, Around 12:30 Friday Morning Pawtucket Engine's 2,1,5 Tower 1 were stilled out to the area of Church And Garden Street's for a heavy smoke condition in the area, Engine 2 arrived and reported smoke showing and a possible boiler issue. As Members from engine 2 advanced lines into the 1 story mexican bar and grill a code red or working fire was transmitted, on the working fire Engine 4 Ladder 2 and Rescue 2 were dispatched to fill in on the assignment. A gas fed fire in the basement extended to floor 1 and into the attic or cockloft area. Battalion Chief Meerbott Evacuated the building and a handline was streched over ladder 2 and flowed into the venthole. Multiple special calls brought all 6 city engines and both ladder companies to the scene off duty members were called in and staffed Engine 8 and Air supply. The gas company finally cut off the gas line at the street as heavy fire broke thru the vent hole and side 1 threatning a 1 story cinderblock auto shop on side 4. 2 ladder pipes and multiple handlines contained the fire to the building of origin around 6 am. Mutual aid box 2826 was struck and companies from North Providence, Central Falls, East Providence and Providence Filled in and ran incidents for Pawtucket while they worked the fire. The building was a total loss and multiple holes were burned into the first floor.



12-07-07 :: Plainville Vacant Dwelling Fire ::

On December seventh plainville firefighters were dispatched to investigate a outside fire off South street. on arrival heavy fire was showing from the B side of the vacant 1.5 story woodframe. Crews had limited access to the scene due to a small bridge, Multiple large lines were utilized and contained the fire. Heavy fire extended into the attic and half story and self vented thru the roof. North Attleborough Engine 5 was special called as companies on the fireground struggled with a secure water supply. The heavy fire was knocked down within an hour and a half the house was heavily damage on a very cold night.



12-03-07 :: Central Falls Basement Fire ::

On Monday Night firefighters were stilled out to Cowden At Illinois for a fire in the basement. Engine 2 arrived and reported heavy smoke showing from the 2 story residential structure. 2 Lines were streched in and the fire was contained to the basement area, with no extension. Saylesville Ladder 51 was dispatched for a RIT team and Pawtucket Engine 2 and Ladder 2 filled in.' Fire is believed to have started in a dryer.



11-27-07 :: Defensive Operations In Providence ::

On November 27th Providence Fire Alarm dispatched a full assignment to 88 Veazie Street for a vacant house fire. Engine 2 arrived to find heavy fire on floor 1 extending upwards in a 3.5 story woodframe vacant dwelling set back behind 2 other buildings. A second alarm was transmitted soon after arrival. Ladder 3 arrived and set up a ladder pipe on side 1 with crews engaged in a exterior operations. Multiple lines and ladder pipes contained the fire to the building of origin in about a hour an a half. Multiple companies were special called above the 2nd alarm.



11-24-07 :: Providence Troubled House Burns ::

Engine 10 arrived with heavy fire showing from the rear of a vacant 2 story woodframe house at 76 Baxter St. Crews attempted to utilize a hydrant in front of the building but it was dead, two other hydrants were also down, command then special called 4 engines to the fire. 4 Lines were streched and the fire was knocked down in around twenty minutes. The House in question had been vacant since a murder there earlier this month.



11-24-07 :: Cranston Transmits 2nd Alarm On Arrival ::

On November 24th Cranston firefighters were dispatched to multiple calls reporting a building fire at pocasett apartments on Dyer street. Engine 3 arrived and reported heavy smoke showing and transmitted a second alarm. Heavy fire vented from floor 2 and quickly extended upwards to floor 3 in a 3 story woodframe apartment building. Multiple lines were streched and 3 Vent Holes were cut into the roof, Multiple Families were displaced and the red cross Responded to provide shelter. Fire was Knocked down in a hour.



11-19-07 :: Morning 2nd Alarm Providence ::

Firefighters were dispatched to 421 Orms Street around 06:50 for a structure fire. Heavy fire was showing on arrival from floor 1 of the 3 story woodframe occupied. a aggressive interior attack was underway as heavy fire extended to the upper floors. Command evacuated the building and put Two ladder Pipes from Tower 1 and Ladder 3 to work. Heavy fire took hold of the 3rd floor and was quickly knocked down with the large lines. multiple firefighters battled the fire for around a hour.



11-17-07 :: Providence 2nd Alarm ::

Providence firefighters responded to 179 Laurel Hill Ave for a building fire. Engine 6 arrived and reported a heavy fire condition in a 3 story multiple dwelling. heavy fire conditions extended in the building while crews were making a interior attack, command pulled all companies from the building and started a defensive operation as fire spread from floor 1 to the attic. Multiple Handlines were streched and multiple special calls were transmitted for the fire which took a hour to control.



11-11-07 :: Chimney Fire In Pawtucket ::

Pawtucket Engine's 2,3 & 5 Tower 1 were stilled out to the vicinity of Pine and Pawtucket Avenue for a reported structure fire at 20:38 on November 11, 2007. Engine 1 quickly cleared a rescue run off of East Avenue and responded putting Engine 3 back in service. On arrival, Engine 2 reported heavy smoke and fire showing from a chimney at 20 Pine Street and ordered a Code Red. Tower 1 arrived and set up on side 1 due to power lines. Command special called Ladder 2 to the scene. While Ladder 2 was responding, Firefighter Maher set up Tower 1 on the roof and began laying a line to the bucket. Engine 3 was also special called to the scene. The fire extended to the walls next to the chimney on all floors, crews pulled open the walls in the 2.5 story dwelling to check for extension and extinguish pockets of fire. 4 Lines were streched knocking down the fire in around a half hour. The recall was at 22:18 releasing North Providence Engine 4 covering Station 5 on Smithfield Avenue.



11-04-07 :: Cumberland House Burns Twice ::

On Sunday Firefighters responded to 2920 Diamond Hill Road for a structure fire. On Arrival heavy smoke was pushing from the 1.5 story woodframe, that had been vacant since February 28, 2006 when a basement fire made the house uninhabitable. 4 lines were streched in as Crews knocked down heavy fire conditions on floors 1 and 2 in about an hour. Mutual Aid from Lincoln Responded to the scene to help with overhaul While Lincoln and North Attleborough covered the stations. Cumberland firefighters also responded earlier to assist North Attleborough knock down a garage fire on Hoppin Hill Road.

On Thursday Central Falls firefighters responded to 42 Cross Street At High Street for a fire in the second floor of a occupied residential structure. Engine's One and Two with Ladder One operated on scene, A booster line was charged and the feeder was stretched but not turned in. Companies had the fire knocked down and overhauled quickly and crews returned into service.



10-14-07 :: Barrington House Fire ::

Sunday Evening Barrington Engine's One, Four,Ladder One and Rescue Responded to Eton St for a structure fire. On arrival Engine One reported smoke showing and streched a line in the front door of the Two story woodframe Residential structure. Fire was located on the second floor and was knocked down before it could extend into the attic. Fire was knocked down and contained in around Twenty-Five minutes.



10-09-07 :: Canton 3rd Alarm ::

Early Tuesday Morning Canton Firefighters responded to 4 Woodlock Road for a structure fire. first arriving Companies had heavy fire conditions showing from an attached garage, of a One story brick residential structure. Fire progressed up into the cockloft of the house and self vented through the roof. Crews setup a ladder pipe and used LDH for a long hose lay to maintain a water supply. The garage, house and Two autos were a total loss. Mutual Aid from Stoughton, Sharon, Norwood, Avon, Randolph and Westwood responded to the scene while Foxborough covered. The Massachusetts Chapter of the Red Cross also responded to assist the elderly occupants of the dwelling. Crews had the heavy fire knocked down and contained within Two hours.



10-08-07 :: Milton 5th Alarm ::

On Columbus Day Evening firefighters were dispatched to Box 671,599 Adams Street for a building fire, Firefighters arrived quickly from the station a block away and reported heavy smoke Showing from a large block of stores. Heavy fire conditions ran between the ceiling and roof area of the old coverted theatre building. Multiple Mutual aid crews responded on the Metro fire box, Assisting towns were from Quincy,Randolph,& Boston. Five alarms were transmitted and the fire was knocked down within a half hour.



10-08-07 :: Columbus Day Fire in Woonsocket ::

Columbus day night Woonsocket Firefighters were dispatched to 95 Rathbun Street for there second Structure fire of the night. On arrival heavy smoke was pushing from the basement of the 3.5 story woodframe, crews made an aggressive interior attack, making basement and extinguishing the fire quickly and stopped it before it could spread to the exposure 4 building, This was the second fire this evening for woonsocket firefighters,earlier crews extinguished a small kitchen fire on Highland Street.

On Sunday the Swansea Fire Department held it's annual fire prevention day to kick off National Fire Prevention week which starts October Seventh. On Thursday Providence firefighters were dispatched to Blaine St. for a structure fire. Engine Twelve advised heavy smoke from a distance, on arrival heavy fire was pushing from the top floor of a three story multi family dwelling. On arrival of the chief an additional Two Engine's and a Ladder were requested, Multiple lines were streched and companies had the heavy fire knocked down in about Fifteen minutes. One occupant was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for further treatment.

In the Evening Of September Twenty eighth North Attleborough firefighters responded to 43 Granite st for a house fire. Engine 1 arrived On scene with fire showing thru the roof of a 2 story residential and began a attack on the fire, Mutual aid companies responded to the fire and to cover stations. The fire was contained to the roof and attic area and controlled quickly.

On September 21st Pawtucket Fire Alarm dispatched crews to York Ave At Armistice Blvd for a City garbage truck on fire, Engine's 3 and 2 and Tower 1 responded along with a Backhoe from public works. the truck was towed to the works garage down the street and offloaded.

On September 21st North Attleborough firefighters responded to Hawkins Rd off Payne rd for a house Fire, Cumberland and Attleboro responded to the fire also. On arrival smoke was showing from the 2nd floor of the 2 story dwelling that was unoccupied at the time, crews knocked the fire down and checked for any possible extensions. crews returned withen the hour.

Early in the morning of September 19, 2007 Fall River Fire Alarm dispatched a still alarm to 147 John street. Crews reported heavy smoke showing from quarters, On arrival heavy fire conditions were visible from the second floor of a vacant apartment building, quickly extending into the attic. Crews advanced lines but were withdrawn from the building and began defensive operations. multiple masterstreams and 2 ladder pipes knocked the fire down around 6am.



08-31-07 :: Putnam Connecticut General Alarm Mill Fire ::

On August 31st Putnam Connecticut Firefighters were dispatched to Mechanics Street (Route 12) for a Building fire. As crews responded a large glow and heavy smoke condition that drifted into Glocester Rhode Island indicated a confirmed fire. Engine 1 arrived and reported a Large 200x200 vacant brick mill type building well involved, Multiple mutual Aid companies responded from the area to the General alarm fire, crews set up a defensive operation and utilized multiple master streams and a ladder pipe to contain the fire to the original building. Crews remained on scene well into the next day chasing hotspots and investigating.



08-29-07 :: 2 Boston Firefighters Killed In West Roxbury Blaze ::

Around 22:00 on Wednesday, August 29,2007 Boston fire alarm transmitted Box 281 Centre and Manthorne Rd.for a building fire at 1727 Centre Street, District 10 West Roxbury. Members from Engine 30 Ladder 25 responded from quarters at 1940 Centre St, On arrival heavy smoke and fire was showing from the roof of Tai Resturaunt, located in a 1 story row of taxpayers, A second alarm was quickly transmitted. As crews began to advance lines into the building a flashover occured trapping members inside. A third alarm was transmitted and Fire alarm notified command that a man down alarm had been activated with no response from Ladder 25 Open Up. A fourth Alarm was transmitted shortly thereafter, as heavy fire vented thru the roof. All Firefighters were removed and triaged by Boston EMS on Belgrade Ave. Multiple Ladder Pipes and Deck Guns Knocked the fire down shortly there after. At 02:04 Engine 16 was Special called as a detail company, At day break two large cranes staged on Centre st and Prepared to lift two 2 ton AC Units off the roof. 11 Firefighters and 1 Medic were injured and the Boston Fire Department lost 2 of there own, Firefighter Paul Cahill Engine 30 and Firefighter Warren Payne Ladder 25.



08-15-07 :: Heavy Fire On California Avenue ::

On August 15th Providence Fire Alarm dispatched companies to 196 California Ave for a Structure fire. On arrival Engine 13 ordered the working fire as heavy fire vented from the 2nd floor of the 2 story woodframe residential structure. And Additional 2&1 was requested on arrival of the chief. A radio issue made fireground communications interesting, as interior crews made progress on the fire and knocked it down in about 25 minutes.



08-11-07 :: Fall River 2nd Alarm ::

On August 11th Fall River firefighters were dispatched to 186 Diman St for a Still alarm, On arrival fire was showing from side 1 of the 3 story woodframe, A second alarm was transmitted. Crews made a aggressive interior attack and held the fire to the 3rd floor and roof area. The fire was knocked down quickly and extensions checked negitive in the exposures. the Fire went under control about a half hour of dispatch as Fire works from, Fall river Celebrates america Lit up the sky.



07-23-07 :: Small Fire In Pawtucket Mill ::

On July 23, 2007 Pawtucket Engine's 5,1,2 Ladder 1 and the chief were dispatched to Providence Metalizing,Box 512. While Companies responded fire alarm notified Engine 5 that workers had fire in an oven. Engine 5 arrived and reported a fire in a large oven that had been knocked down by the sprinkler system. Ladder 1 arrived and checked the wooden roof of the mill for any vertical extension, none was found. Crews vented a smoke condition and returned into service within 30 minutes, The fire was contained to the oven with minor extension to some insulation.



07-21-07 :: 10+ Alarm Mill Fire In Uxbridge ::

On July 21,2007 around 04:00am Uxbridge Firefighters responded to 19 Depot St the "Bernat Mill Complex" for A Box alarm with reported smoke in the building.Arriving companies investigated a heavy smoke condition and a second alarm was transmitted while crews were engaged in an interior attack, North Smithfield tanker 1 along with other mutual aid from Northbridge and Hopedale responded. Heavy smoke was visible from the center of the 1000x1000 2,3 & 4 story brick,wood and metal clad complex as daylight broke. Command ordered all members to evacuate the building as heavy fire broke through the roof. Maydays were transmitted for 3 injured firefighters were lead from the building to awaiting EMS units, who were staged on scene. The 3 firefighters were transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Uxbridge Ladder 1, Northbridge Ladder 1, Blackstone Ladder 1, and Douglas Ladder 1 set up ladder pipes on 2 sides of the building and multiple deck guns and master streams were utilized. Crews also drafted from 3 locations on the river near the mill to maintain a water supply. 3 District 7 Structural taskforces, a Strike team, and a Foam Task force from Bristol and Norfolk Counties responded to the 10+ Alarm fire.At one point crews in the A/B corner were faced with 2 massive explosions iqnited by a 60,000 gallon tank of cooking oil. Worcester Tower 3 and Ladder 1 arrived and set up and flowed water from ladder pipes. Framingham and Marborough Ladder companies set up and staged on side 1 of the medal clad portion of the building. Crews also set up ladder pipes ajacent to town hall and the fire station to prevent extension to residential and commercial structures in the downtown area. Heavy smoke could be seen for miles as the 65 businesses that occupy the mill burned.Eventually 45+ departments would respond from Massachusetts and Rhode Island to contain the fire to the large mill building.Crews will be on scene throughout the weekend knocking down pockets of fire and investiating its cause.This is the second fire for the town of Uxbridge in about a week.

On Monday July 16,2007 Pawtucket, RI Engines 3, 2, & Ladder 1 were dispatched to Division and Water Streets for a MVA.Engine 2 arrived first due and began an extrication to free a female victim while Engine 3 along with Ladder 1 assesed patients in the second vehicle involved.With in 20 minutes the crew of Engine 2 freed the victim and transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment.



07-15-07 :: Fired Up Sunday Morning::

At Around 02:00Am Sunday July, 15th Johnston Firefighters responded to 621 Killingly St. For a reported fire in a building. First Arriving companies had heavy banking smoke on arrival, A working fire was transmitted for a heavy fire condition in a 1-2 story commercial bakery severly threatning exposure 4 a 2 story woodframe. Crews attempted a interior attack but were withdrawn from the building moments later as heavy fire started breaking thru the roof.Lines were layed to Ladder 1 and companies began an exterior operation, Multiple large lines were utilized with a deck gun from Engine 2 to knock down the heavy fire in about 2 hours. 1 Firefighter was transported to a local hospital by rescue 2 with minor injuries. Around 04:30 East Providence and North Providence dispatched still boxes, East Providence Struck a box with phones ringing in the backround for a structure fire at 1370 South Broadway. On arrival Engine 1 reported a working fire for a 1.5 story woodframe garage well involved and extending to 2 dwellings and 2 cars 4 lines were streched and a heavy column of smoke was visible from Rt. 195. The fire was knocked down and contained within 20 minutes. At 04:50 Providence sent out a still box for a structure located at 15 Richter St. In Smith Hill. First arriving companies had heavy smoke showing from floor 2 of a 3 story woodframe, A working fire was transmitted. 3 lines were stretched and crews made an aggressive interior attack on the fire which was contained to floor 2.3 Occupants were transported to the hospital.Fire was under control in a half hour.



07-13-07 :: Attic Fire In Pawtucket::

Around 18:30am On Friday, July 13th Pawtucket Firefighters were dispatched to Paul and Byron Streets for smoke coming from a structure. Engine's 6,3,4 Ladder 2 responded Engine 6 on arrival had smoke showing from floor 2 of the 1.5 story dwelling under construction. 1 Line was streched and knocked down a small fire on floor 2 that extended into the cockloft. It Was quickly contained. Tower 1, Engine 2, and Rescue 1 and 2 responded on a fill in.



07-13-07 :: Heavily Involved House In Uxbridge ::

Around 04:00am On Friday, July 13th Uxbridge Firefighters were dispatched to 46 Pond St. for a reported structure fire. On arrival, a 2 story woodframe vacant dwelling was well involved and a 3rd alarm was transmitted.Crews had a water supply problem as the house fire was in a non hydranted area of town, and also live wires were down on trees off the driveway. Four Large lines were utilized and a draft site and shuttle operation began using N.Smithfield, Millville,and Upton tankers.The fire was held to the original fire building which was a total loss.

On Saturday 7-7-07 Around 04:30am Firefighters were dispatched to North street At the Wrentham Farms Compost Site for a structure fire. As Crews responded Engine 2 broke down and C1 requested an engine from Norfolk to the scene. Engine 3 and C1 arrived to find heavy fire from the 80x200 brick barn type structure.a long hydrant lay was utilized from a hydrant 1/2 mile away C1 called a working fire and sent Franklin to cover also Tanker 1 was special called later into the event. 1 ladder pipe and the deck gun from Norfolk Engine 1 knocked down the heavy fire as the building collasped into itself.2 handlines were also used from Wrentham E3 and Norfork E1 to knock down remaining hotspots.crews remained on scene well into the morning overhauling.



06-30-07 :: Central Falls Early Morning Fire ::

Around 2:40 Saturday Morning 6-30-07 Central Falls firefighters were dispatched to 138 Sylvan Ave for a structure fire.As companies responded a heavy smoke condition and glow in the sky indicated a working fire. On arrival companies had heavy fire on the 3rd floor of a 3 story multiple dwelling breaking thru the roof, Command Special Called Pawtucket Engine 2 and ordered that company to lay lines to Central falls Ladder 1 on there arrival,Pawtucket Tower 1 was also Special called along with Lincoln Rescue 4, Lincoln Engine 4,and Cumberland Truck 1 bringing the fire to a 2nd alarm equiv. Crews set up a defensive operation and knocked the heavy fire down within a hour.The roof was burned away and the 3rd floor collasped into the 2nd on side 1. 06-21-07 :: Pawtucket 2 Alarm Fire ::

On Thursday 6-21-07 At 09:10 AM Pawtucket Engine's 1,2 & 5 Tower 1 responded for multiple calls reporting a structure fire at 87-89 Belmont St. Engine 1 arrived quickly from the West Ave station blocks away to find a 3 story woodframe heavily involved on floor 2,3 and extending into and thru the cockloft and roof. Companies began an interior attack on the fire but were evacuated shortly there after due to the roof starting to collaspe. Crews set up and flowed water from tower 1 and set up lines on the roof of the exposure 2 building a 1 story commercial building. Multiple lines were streched the fire was knocked down within an hour and a half utilizing all city apparatus and also Engine 7 was staffed and responded. 06-18-07 :: Providence 2 Alarm Fire ::

On Monday 6-18-07 around 4 PM the Providence fire department responded to Almy And Tell Streets for a reported building fire. A column of heavy smoke was visible to responding units from a distance indicating a working fire, on arrival a second alarm was transmitted. Companies had heavy fire conditions and reports of possible occupants trapped in the 3 story woodframe flattop located at the corner, a aggressive interior attack began.Multiple lines were streched and crews protected the exposure 3 building which was a similar type structure. Crews were tied up for some time chasing pockets of fire, checking for extension and overhaul operations.

Around 2:00 on Thursday morning 6-14-07 Providence Fire Dispatched companies to 375 Plainfield St for a structure fire Engine 6 arrived and reported fire showing from the 2nd floor. lines were streched and a interior attack began, Command requested an addition engine and ladder to the scene. During the Searches 2 bodys were discovered in the original fire room.The fire was controlled quickly and fire was contained to the room of origin with some minor extension,The scene later turned into a crime scene and a murder investagation began.

On Sunday 6-3-07 Fairhaven Police started a search for a missing male subject who went missing the night before. Multiple agencys assisted from Taunton,New Bedford,Coventry RI, North Smithfield RI,and the Bristol county sheriff.Crews searched land and water with no sign of the missing person. canines were requested and lead police to the waters edge on the beach. As crews were picking up for the evening and arranging the following days plans,The new Bedford Police boat spotted the man about 30 feet off shore. Dive teams were deployed and the man was removed from the water.



05-24-07 :: 3rd Alarm In Woonsocket For a Commercial Building ::

On 5-24-07 Woonsocket Firefighters were dispatched to 400 Diamond Hill Rd The Old Roller Kingdom On arrival heavy smoke was pushing from the building. Heavy fire conditions,and holes in the floors forced crews to set up a defensive operation. a second alarm was transmitted as heavy fire ran the length of the building.A heavy smoke condition forced the evacuation of the apartment complex on side 2, crews set up 2 ladder pipes and multiple master steams. A third alarm was transmitted bringing Blackstone and Bellingham Mutual aid to the scene. as night fell heavy fire vented from the rear of the building. Companies were set up in the Wal mart parking lot with a deck gun, The DOT arrived with a back hoe and exposed the interior of the building to firefighters. The fire was knocked down within 2 hours crews were on scene into the night mopping up.

At Around 13:00Hrs On 5-5-07 Seekonk Fire Recieved calls for smoke coming from the roof of a resturaunt at 751 Fall River Ave, Engine 3 and Ladder 1 were dispatched. After recieving multiple calls Engine 1 was dispatched on arrival heavy smoke and fire conditions pushed from the roof area of the 1 story 50x100 strip mall, A second alarm was transmitted E.Providence sent 2 engine companies, 1 ladder, special hazards and a chief. Large lines were set up and crews set up a defensive operation knocking down the heavy fire within 25 minutes.Pawtucket Engine 6 Filled in at seekonk Hq.The building was a total loss.



04-16-07 :: 2 Alarm Fire At Cumberland Condo ::

At 17:30 4-16-07 after knocking down a room and contents fire at 524 High St.Cumberland Fire Alarm reported a structure fire at 2970 Mendon Rd a condo complex.E41 Cleared the high st.job and responded, usually first due it would be a delayed response.An off duty firefighter arrived and reported a working fire a second alarm was transmitted bringing mutual aid from Lincoln, Central falls, and Woonsocket to the fire and Pawtucket to cover.Albion Ladder arrived and reported fire showing from the rear of the building heavy fire conditions were already extending from floor 1 into floor 2.Lincoln and woonsocket crews laddered the building and cut vent holes in the roof fire broke thru and and was quickly knocked down.Large lines were dropped and a foam application was applied knocking down the fire quickly.

On Easter Sunday 4-8-07 Fall River Fire Dispatched a still alarm for 45 Williams St On arrival Heavy Smoke and fire was showing from Side 2 and a 2nd alarm was transmitted. Heavy fire conditions threatned exposures on all sides of the 3 story building.Foam and 2 ladder pipes stopped the fire from spreading and kept it to the original fire building which was a total loss.The next day the exposure located at 249 Division St was damaged by a 3 alarm fire once again ladder pipes and foam were used to protect exposures from that fire.

Around 01:00 Saturday 3-31-07 East Providence Fire Alarm reported a house fire on What Cheer Ave Engine's 5,1,3 Ladder 3 responded. Engine 5 arrived to find a 2 story wood frame with heavy smoke from the basement a working fire was transmitted Rescue 1,4 and special Hazards Filled In to the box.Heavy fire conditions extended into floors 1 and 2 before being knocked down. Eventually Engine's 2,and 4 were special called with ladder 1 bring all E.Providence apparatus to the scene, Fire alarm stuck a mutual aid box thru metro control bring mutual aid into the city to cover Pawtucket Engine 6 Filled in at station 3 while providence Engine 7 and Ladder 4 filled in at distict 4 barrington engine responded to riverside.Last Year The State bomb squad along with local authorities removed explosives from the basement of the home.



03-28-07 :: Mill Fire In Pawtucket ::

On Wednesday Morning 3-28-2007 at 08:27 hrs Pawtucket Engine’s 2,1,5 Ladder 1 and the Chief responded to 354 Pine Street for reports of a building fire, As headquarters companies left the station a large column of smoke was visible and a second alarm was transmitted while still enroute. On arrival companies had heavy fire from floor 2 of the 2 story vacant 100x400 brick mill building that used to be occupied by the general offices of ”Perry Blackburne inc” and also the ‘Standard Uniform Company” Companies dropped 2 lines and made an attempt at a quick interior attack but due to progression of fire and severe threat of collaspe crews were evacuated and a defensive operation began. Heavy fire also was threatening a large mill building,exposure 3, And also starting a small exterior fire on the 1 story mill occupied by the “Providence Yarn Company” on Conant Street, fire also spread to an smaller attached portion of the original fire building on the Lily Pond Street side. At 08:30 Central Falls sent a full structural response to the fire. 3 Ladder pipes and multiple master streams contained the fire to the building of origin. Multiple mutual aid companies responded to the general alarm fire from Attleboro, Central Falls, Cumberland, Providence, Lincoln. While Attleboro, Providence, E.Providence, N.Providence and Johnston Filled in at empty city stations. One resident was arrested on scene after a small altercation with police. National Grid pulled the power to the area at one point in the fire leaving many traffic lights out in the area and triggering several box alarms also in the area including Box 254 Strech Products at 392 Pine Street, and crews tagged multiple hydrants in the area one far away as Broad Street 4-5 blocks away from the fireground, firefighters removed trees and other brush from the front to gain access for a ladder pipe and to ventalate .Companies remained on scene all day and into the night knocking down hot spots and picking up. Engine’s 7 and 8 remained on scene as the detail companies. This wasn’t the first fire to hit the Conant Industrial Park On December 12,2006 a small fire damaged a small section on floor 4 of the exposure building, and on July 11,1999 200 Conant Street a 2 story brick mill that had been the site of six previous fire’s was distroyed in a general alarm fire.

Tuesday Afternoon 3/20/2007 Attleboro Firefighters were dispatched to 37 Lawn Street, In South Attleboro for a reported structure fire. Crews Arrived and reported heavy smoke from the attic of a 2.5 story duplex, fire was on the half story also extending into the attic area.Crews dropped a line and began an interior attack on the fire. Ladder 1 vented the roof, and Engine 1 was special called for manpower. companies had the fire knocked down within 20 minutes.

Around 09:00 the Cranston and Providence fire departments sent a response to 76 Hillwood st a 1.5 story woodframe. Heavy fire was pushing from side 2 with a exposure issue.a quick interior attack began on a very cold morning.crews vented the roof as crews from both cities battled the fire and controlled it within the hour.

On Sunday The Boston Fire department was dispatched 39 Columbia Rd.for a building fire,Fire alarm also advised they were "Recieving Calls".On arrival heavy fire was showing from two buildings. The original fire building was a 3 story wood frame it extended to a similar type structure.4 alarms were transmitted on box 3356 along with Engine 2 and Ladder 17 Special called for detail companies.it was contained withen an hour and a half.

On 2-24-07 Warren firefighters were dispatched to 4 Butterworth Ave for a house fire. on arrival crews had smoke showing from the 2nd floor. crews layed lines into floor 2 and knocked down the fire,fire extended into the attic area. fire was knocked down quickly.



02-15-07 :: Mansfield Longhorn Fire ::

On Thursday night, February 15, 2007, Mansfield firefighters were dispatched to Route 140 and Norfolk Street for reported smoke coming from a building.Responding companies reported heavy smoke showing from a distance. On arrival, a working fire was transmitted and command reported fire throughout the one story "Longhorn Restruant" under construction in the Home Depot Plaza.Due to lack of hydrants in the area, a 2nd alarm was transmitted. Mansfield Tower 1 was set up on side one and began flowing water.Sharon Ladder on arrival set up on the side two-three corner as heavy fire broke through the roof.When heavy winds blew the fire towards their location setting off a brush fire to the rear of their apparatus, command transmitted a 3rd alarm.Crews used multiple big lines and the Mansfield tower to bring the fire under control later on that evening. Mutual Aid from North Attleborough, Sharon, Easton and Norton responded to the fire.

Late Tuesday night 2/13/2007 West Greenwich Firefighters were dispatched to 689 Hopkins Hill Road on a box alarm with phone calls reporting a building fire.Exeter and Coventry were put on stand by as crews were enroute. First arriving companies reported the building 3/4 involved in heavy fire.Command requested 2 ladders, 2 Engine's from Coventry and 2 Tankers from Exeter to the fire on his arrival, Multiple explosions were reported also.The Packard Wood Product's building was A 200x300 two story warehouse,The building became fully involved and later collasped.Heavy fire and embers set off brush fires to the rear of the building and at one time threatened a small wooden shed. Multiple ladder pipes and master streams kept the fire from spreading.A tanker shuttle was also set up and crews drafted from two near by ponds to maintain A water supply.Mutual aid from the surrounding communties responded. Crews were on scene into the next evening knocking down hot spots.

on February 6,2007 Braintree firefighters were dispatched on box 36 for 84 Hollis st.on arrival heavy fire pushed from the side 2 of a 2.5 story wood frame a 3rd alarm would be required to knock down the heavy fire mutual aid from Weymouth, Quincy and Boston Responded.the building was heavily damaged.



02-05-07 :: Fatal 2 Alarm fire In Providence ::

On Monday February 5th 2007, a two alarm fire in the cities "Smith Hill" section heavily damaged a three story woodframe located at 687 Chalkstone Ave.Providence Firefighters were dispatched around 5:00am, with phones ringing in the background for a reported fire on floor two, with possible occupants trapped.Engine 12 arrived first due and reported heavy fire showing from the second floor. A very aggressive interior attack began.On arrival of the Battalion Chief, an additional Engine and Ladder were requested, and he also reported heavy fire on floor three.Lines were layed into Tower 1. Searches were still underway when Special Hazards reported the first occupant had been found and was being removed from the building.Command requested an additional 1&1, and two rescues, bringing the assignment to a second alarm equivelent.A second occupant was found deceased on the second floor.Multiple Handlines were streched and it took about 90 minutes to control the fire.A fourteen year old girl was med-flighted to Shriner's Hospital in Boston for further treatment,where she later died.

On Monday February 5, 2007, around 1am, Cumberland firefighters were dispatched to 30 Hidden Valley Rd. for a reported barn fire.Engine 54 arrived and reported a 100x50 barn well involved,A working fire was transmitted while companies were still enroute.Mutual aid tankers from Plainville and Wrentham responded to the fire. Crews had the fire knocked down quickly.

On Sunday morning February 4, 2007 Seekonk Firefighters were dispatched to 669 Taunton Ave (Rt.44) For a Structure Fire. Engine 3 and Ladder 1 responded from the station 1/2 mile away on Taunton Ave. Crews reported heavy smoke from the 2.5 story dwelling. Car 1 reported a working fire and E.Providence Engine 1 and ladder 3 went Mutual Aid to the scene.2 lines were streched into the dwelling and knocked down the fire which was believed to be on the second floor.Crews knocked down the fire quickly, Seekonk Engine's 1,2,3 and ladder 1 all responded while Pawtucket Engine 6 filled in at the city's station 3.



02-03-07 :: Seekonk's 4 Alarm Hotel Fire ::

On Saturday 2/3/2007 Seekonk Engine 3 and Ladder1 were dispatched to the "Ramada Inn" on Fall River Ave. for a building fire. Engine 3 arrived and reported heavy smoke on floor 1 of a 100 x 50 2 story hotel,A working fire followed, On the working fire East Providence Engine 1,5 And Ladder 3 were dispatched mutual aid to the scene. East Providence Engine 5 arrived 2nd engine on scene and layed lines,Engine 1 went to floor 2 to check for extension, reporting fire extending to that floor.E.Providence Battalion Chief transmitted a 4th alarm reporting heavy overlapping fire in a motel room on floor 1. Mutual aid From Pawtucket, E Providence, Barrington, and Attleboro. The fire was contained to the room on floor 1 and minor extension above.



02-03-07 :: Central Falls 3 Alarm House Fire ::

On Saturday, February 3rd 2007, Central Falls firefighters were dispatched to 80 Railroad Street for a structure fire.Arriving companies reported heavy fire showing from floor one of a 2.5 story woodframe structure.A second alarm was transmitted on arrival bringing mutual aid from Pawtucket with Engine 2 And Tower 1, Saylesville Ladder 51 was also dispatched.Central Falls crews advanced three lines into he first floor, finding that heavy fire had already extended into the second floor and attic area.Pawtucket Tower 1 arrived and reported to side four. Lt. Steve Tanquay, and firefighters Will Maher and Scott Gagan began ventalation on the roof.Crews reported heavy fire through the roof on side one and a third alarm was transmitted bringing more mutual aid companies from Pawtucket, Cumberland and Providence.Central Falls Ladder 1 set up a ladder pipe on side one and crews set up big lines on side two. Crews also used a salvage cover to cover a resident's automobile on side one.Companies were evacuated from the third floor for a short time while they flowed water into side two. The ladder pipe was never used.Multiple lines were streched and Crews remained on scene for quite some time overhauling and picking up on what was a very cold night.Fire is beleved to have started on the porch on floor 1.



01-31-07 :: Brockton 3 Alarm House Fire ::

Brockton Firefighters responded to 28 Snell Ave, Box 5231, for a reported basement fire.First arriving companies had heavy fire in the basement quickly extending upwards.Car 56 arrived and reported a 2.5 story woodframe. A second alarm shortly followed.Crews began an interior attack on the fire, but were evacuated due to the progression of fire. A third alarm was transmitted, and Avon engine 2 went mutual aid to the fire.Fire spread to all floors and thru the roof. Five big lines and two ladder pipes from Ladder 1 and Tower 2 knocked down the fire.



01-31-07 :: Pawtucket Building Fire ::

Pawtucket firefighters were dispatched to 74 Newport Ave. "Friendly's Restaurant" for a reported structure fire. Engines 6,3,4 and Ladder 2 responded.Engine 6 arrived and reported nothing showing. After investagating, Engine 6 reported a heavy smoke condition.A "code red" was transmitted bringing Engine 2, Ladder 1 and Rescue 2 on the fill in.Engine 6 reported a HVAC unit on the roof on fire with possible extension below. Crews pulled ceilings and checked for extension, none was found.One line was streched and crews knocked the fire down.





12-31-06 :: Pawtucket House Fire ::

At around 1:30am, Pawtucket firefighters were stilled out to 21 Carson St for multiple reports of a structure fire.Engine 1 arrived and reported a two story woodframe with fire showing from the second floor.The second alarm was transmitted.Companies had heavy fire on side one of the building with an exposure issue on side two.Rescues 1 and 2 responded and transported occupants to Rhode Island Hospital.Ladder 2 vented the roof and crews used four lines to knock down the fire.Central Falls Ladder 1 and North Providence Engine 4 filled in at empty city stations.



12-26-06 :: Providence House Fire ::

On December 26 at 11:22, companies responded to a reported structure fire at 857 Atwells Ave.Engine 14 reported a working fire on arrival finding heavy fire in the basement extending to the first floor of a 3 story woodframe occupied structure.Command requested an additional engine and truck to the fire.Ladder 6 vented the roof and three lines were run and the fire was knocked down quickly.



12-24-06 :: Cranston Christmas Eve House Fire ::

At 8:40 on Christmas Eve, Cranston firefighters were dispatched to the area of Magazine and Plantation Streets for a report of smoke coming from a chimney of a vacant house.First arriving companies reported heavy smoke showing from a 1 story vacant structure and a working fire was struck.Heavy fire conditions in the basement extended into the first floor.Companies attempted a interior attack, but due to a heavy debris condition and progression of fire crews were evacuated from the building.Tower 2 set up a ladder pipe on side 1 and crews used 2.5 inch lines to knock down the fire.On Christmas day, companies returned to the house for a small rekindle in the roof line.



12-17-06 :: Fairhaven Car Dealership Fire ::

On December 17th, Fairhaven MA firefighters battled a fully involved 2.5 story commercial auto dealership on Route 6.Fairhaven firefighters, along with mutual aid companys from Mattapoiset, battled heavy fire conditions throughout the building and were evacuated for a exterior operation.Fairhaven ladder 1 set up a ladder pipe on side 1 and two large lines were utilized.Companys vented the roof and opened four skylights.After knocking down the heavy fire, interior companys returned to knock down small pockets of fire and overhaul.



12-12-06 :: Pawtucket Commercial garage Fire ::

On December 12th, Pawtucket firefighters were dispatched to the area of 1440 Newport Ave for multiple calls reporting a fire at "In & Out Auto", a one story commercial garage.Engine 4 arrived and reported heavy smoke showing and and transmitted a working fire.Engine 2, Tower 1 and Rescue 2 were sent on the fill in.Crews made an aggressive interior attack and knocked down the heavy fire before it spread into the side 3 exposure building.



11-11-06 :: Fire On Roof Of Mill In Providence ::

Providence Firefighters responded to a box alarm on West River Street on November 11, 2006 around 3pm.Engine 2 arrived and reported a heavy smoke condition on floor 2 of a 2 story brick mill type building and transmitted a code red.Ladders 7 and 3 went to the roof and reported a small section of roofing on fire.Incident command called 2 additional engines and a ladder to the scene for precaution.The fire was quickly knocked down.



11-11-06 :: Church Fire In Central Falls ::

Central Falls Firefighters responded to a two alarm arson fire at St. Georges Church located at 11 Evaleen St. on November 11, 2006 at 3am.The fire was spotted by apassing police officer.fire started in the basement of the church and extended into the first floor.Mutual aid companies from Lincoln, Pawtucket and Cumberland also responded.



11-04-06 :: Troubled Apartment Building Burns in Pawtucket ::

Pawtucket firefighters recieved multiple calls and a box from 950 Main Street late Saturday evening reporting a structure fire.Engine 1 arrived and reported fire showing from a 3 story apartment complex.The fire started in bushes on the exterior and quickly extended up the side and into the roof area. Companies cleared the scene in about a hour and a half.



11-04-06 :: 6 Alarms In Somerville ::

First arriving companies had heavy fire in a row of taxpayers at 87-91 Broadway.Six alarms were transmitted on box 177 bringing mulitiple mutual aid companies to the scene.Two towers were set up and multiple handlines knocked down the heavy fire which destroyed the block of stores and damaged two 3.5 story occupied woodframe dwellings to the rear of the main fire building.
