![]() :: Firefighter John Hargraves :: On August 22,1993 at 15:07 Firefighters were dispatched to McBurney Law Offices located at 100 Cottage street. First arriving companies had smoke showing from the chimney. John Hargraves a 19 year Veteran Firefighter 1 year from retiring arrived with Engine 6 and entered the basement of the building along with Engine 2. At first crews thought it was a boiler backfire a pretty routine situation, but as advancing companies made the basement heavy heat and smoke indicated this wasn’t routine. While Companies searched for the seat of the fire,the basement stairs began to burn LT. Buchanan knocked the fire down with a line and the order to evacuate the building was given, Hargraves became separated from his company. During Roll Call Firefighter Hargraves was caught in a back draft, He Evacuated thru the side exit of the building and collapsed in the parking lot.He was transported to Memorial Hospital then later Life flighted to Norwalk Hospital In Norwalk Ct.On Sunday, September 26,1993 He died from his injuries.

Ladder 2 Hit Pole On west Avenue, The Same Night Chief Taupier Dies from Hitting pole On West Avenue Firefighter George Sonntag was the second member of the Pawtucket Fire department to die in the line of duty in The last two Days, Firefighter sonntag was a member of Ladder 3 and was involved in the MVA saturday on West Avenue with ladder 2, He was found down at the Prospect street station and transported to memorial hospital where he later died. 48 hours before Sonntag died Chief Taupier died from injuries sustained On west ave when his Chief's car smashed into a pole on Friday.

![]() :: Collyer Park Memorial :: On July 7, 1884 Box 75 was transmitted at 23:25 for fire in a wooden building at Weeden & Power Rd. Hose's 1 & 2 and truck 1 responded, while responding Hose Carrage 1 hit a upright stone and overturned. Chief Collyer, Levi Green, WM Daggett, Lewis Butler, WM Boyd, and WM Morges were involved in the wreck. On July 27, 1884 Chief Collyer died from his injuries.On August 5 Town council elected first assistant engineer John Brierly to position of Chief of the Department for the remainder of 1884.
